A woman entered a pharmacy seeking an antibiotic, intending to use it to "cleanse" her system. The pharmacist advised her against using antibiotics without a medical need, explaining that this could result in antibiotics not working when they're truly needed. The customer reacted with anger, asking, "Even with my own money?"
The pharmacist responded, "Why would you use your own money to harm yourself?" He further explained the potential dangers of her actions. He suggested she undergo some tests, and only if necessary, an antibiotic would be provided. Eventually, the customer saw reason and decided to purchase immune boosters instead.
Antibiotics are not intended for "body cleansing." This misconception has contributed to their misuse and, in the long run, antibiotic resistance.
